The Naval Service has detained a British registered fishing vessel approximately 180 nautical miles west of the Skelligs off Co Kerry in relation to an alleged breach of fishing regulations.
The vessel was detained last night.
It will be escorted to Castletownbere, where it is expected to arrive tomorrow morning, and will be handed over to gardai.
It is the first detention by the Naval Service of a vessel off the Irish coast this year.
