Gardaí have spent the day searching a wooded area in the Dublin Mountains following the discovery of human remains in a shallow grave.

A forensic anthropologist today examined the isolated area 14km from Tallaght.

The victim is believed to be a man and is expected to be identified tomorrow.

The discovery was made by two people out hill walking at around midday yesterday.

The remains were found beside an uprooted tree in a forest near Military Road.

No clothes or any other recognisable items were found at the scene.
