A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an attempted armed robbery yesterday at a post office in Arklow, Co Wicklow.
At around 2.10pm, a man carrying what is believed to be a firearm entered the post office in the town and demanded money.
No cash was handed over and the man subsequently fled the scene in a blue car.
A man was later arrested near Ashford in Co Wicklow.
He is being held at Wicklow Garda Station.
