Man critical after assault in Leitrim

A man is in a critical condition following an assault in Co Leitrim early this morning.

A 30-year-old man is in a critical condition following an assault in Co Leitrim early this morning.

The man was found at 3.30am in the Townparks area of Carrick on Shannon with serious head injuries.

The 30-year-old man has been taken to Sligo General Hospital.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
