He is being held at Bray Garda station in connection with alleged financial irregularities at a financial institution.
He was arrested by appointment this morning and can be held until 4pm tomorrow afternoon.
It is the second time he has been detained in connection with the investigation into alleged financial irregularities at the former Anglo Irish Bank.
Gardaí had to go before the district court to secure a warrant for his arrest.
The investigation is being conducted by the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation and the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement.
