An 18-year-old woman is recovering at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar after she was seriously assaulted in a field in Co Longford.
Gardaí in Granard say the woman, who is originally from Co Meath, was found naked with injuries to her head and body near Edgeworthstown yesterday.
She is not believed to have been sexually assaulted.
A man was arrested at the scene and held for questioning at Longford Garda Station.
He was released without charge this evening.
