Two arrested following €600,000 drugs seizure

Two people have been arrested in Portlaoise in connection with a drugs seizure worth around €600,000.

Two men have been arrested in connection with a drugs seizure worth around €600,000 in Portlaoise.

Gardaí carried out a search of a van in the town yesterday afternoon at around 4pm and discovered a quantity of cocaine and cannabis herb. Two men were arrested at the scene.

Subsequent searches were carried out which led to the discovery of cocaine and cannabis herb with an approximate street value of €600,000 in an old furniture factory, close to where the arrests took place.

The two men - one in his 20s and one in his 30s - are being detained at Portlaoise Garda Station under Section 2 of drug trafficking legislation.
