Two charged over €5.5m cocaine seizure

Two men have been charged over the discovery of 80 kilos of cocaine with an estimated value of €5.5 million, in a shed in Co Cork on Thursday.

Sean O’Donovan, 45, with an address at Ballynakilla, Bartlemy, Co Cork and German national Richard Deutschenbaur, 56, with an address in Sweden appeared before a special sitting of Fermoy District Court.

They were both charged with the possession of cocaine at Ballynakilla, Bartlemy on 13 October and with the possession of cocaine for sale or supply on the same date at the same location.

Both men were remanded in custody to Cork prison, to appear again before Fermoy District Court on 21 October.
