A viable explosive device was discovered in Donnybrook, Co Dublin early this morning.

The device was discovered at a house on Eglington Road just after midnight.

The army bomb disposal team made the device safe without the need for a controlled explosion at 1.25am.

The device was removed for further analysis and the scene was declared safe at 2.30am.
