Gardaí investigating the murder of a man whose body was found in a flat in Limerick city yesterday have confirmed he was stabbed a number of times.

The body of Martin Purcell, 54, was found at a flat on Wickham Street in the city centre yesterday morning.

Mr Purcell was originally from the Fairgreen area of Limerick.

At a news briefing this afternoon, gardaí said they were trying to establish his movements since last Monday.

Gardaí said no evidence has been found to suggest there was a violent entry into the flat where Mr Purcell was killed.
