Gardaí are continuing their investigations into the suspicious death of a 35-year-old woman in Co Waterford last night.
The woman was discovered with head injuries at a roundabout on the city's outer ring road shortly after midnight.
She was pronounced dead in hospital a short time later.
Her name has not yet been released, but it is understood she was from eastern Europe and was mother to at least two children.
A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and remains at Waterford Garda Station.
Under the provisions of the act, his period of detention will end shortly after midnight at which time he must be released or charged with an offence.
A post mortem on the woman's remains was carried out this afternoon at Waterford Regional Hospital by Deputy State Pathologist Dr Khalid Jaber.
Gardaí this evening re-examined the area where the woman was found.
They are appealing for witnesses who were in the area of Couse Bridge roundabout after 11pm last night to contact them at Waterford Garda Station.
