Thousands of third level applicants are receiving offers of college place later as the CAO releases the 2011 points tables.

Level 8 Points | Level 7 & 6 Points |
CAO: Offers and Acceptances Summary 2011

More than 76,000 students year applied through the CAO system.

After years of steady increase, the number applying this year has declined by a small amount.

This year's aggregate figures reveal an interesting if not unexpected picture. They show students strongly favouring courses in areas where they hope to find jobs, such as Science and Computing.

Science courses at UCD and at NUIG are both up by 20 points.

The points increase is even higher with Computer Science, up 35 points at UCD, with computing courses at NUIG and UL up by 65 and 40 points respectively.

The points for medicine and many nursing courses has also risen.

Teaching courses are generally static or down, while the collapse in interest in construction related careers continues.

Architecture at DIT is down this year by 65 points.
