A mobile phone shop employee was assaulted and tied up this morning as he opened the store in Limerick city.
The Vodafone employee was set upon by one or two men on O'Connell Street at about 8.30am.
He was discovered by another employee at around 9am.
The man was brought to hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be serious.
Gardaí say it is still unclear if anything was taken during the incident.
An investigation is under way and CCTV footage of the area is to be examined.
Gardaí at Henry Street are appealing for anyone who was in the area between 8am and 9.30am and who may have seen something suspicious to contact them on 061-212400.
