Education - Govt has 'underestimated anger' among parents

The parents of children with special educational needs are to protest outside the Dáil next Wednesday evening.

The protest has been called to coincide with a debate on a Private Members Bill that criticises the capping of the number of Special Needs Assistants in schools, as well as other education cuts.

At a press conference this morning, Independent TD Mick Wallace said the Government had underestimated the amount of anger among parents.

People Before Profit TD Richard Boyd Barrett said the cuts flowed directly from the Government's decision to adhere to the European Union/International Monetary Fund agreement.
