Gardaí are investigating whether the murder of a man last night is connected to the victim having been caught with a large quantity of drugs three years ago.
20-year-old Dean Johnson was shot four times near his home in Moorfield Avenue, Clondalkin in Dublin, in what gardaí believe was a gang-related killing.
Mr Johnson was sitting in a car with a young woman just after 9pm last night when a gunman walked up and shot him at least four times with a handgun.
He was hit in the upper body and head.
Mr Johnson was taken to Tallaght Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the area at around 9pm, or anyone with information, to contact them.
