The Government has set aside an additional €30m for repair work on hundreds of schools this summer.
The Minister for Education said the scheme will form part of the Government's Jobs Initiative to be announced tomorrow.
Ruairi Quinn said some 3,000 workers will be required during the period of the repair works on 380 schools.
The funding is comprised of €20m from the Department of Education and €10m from the Exchequer.
