Crewman rescued off Co Cork coast

A crewman who fell overboard from a fishing boat off the Co Cork coast this afternoon has been rescued.

The accident occurred as the boat was fishing 17km south of Baltimore.

The man was recovered after he had spent about seven minutes in the water.

He was initially taken on board the Baltimore lifeboat but was later transferred to a Coast Guard helicopter to be flown to Cork University Hospital.

He is said to be in a stable condition.

Elsewhere, a farmer who was injured in Co Kerry has been airlifted off Mount Brandon by a Coast Guard helicopter.

The man was repairing fences on his land between Mount Brandon and Brandon Point when a rockfall occurred.

It is understood he sustained serious leg injuries.

He is being treated in Kerry General Hospital.
