The Director of Public Prosecutions has directed that a 49-year-old businessman, accused of the sexual assault of a woman in Dublin, be sent forward for trial to the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
Anthony Lyons of Griffith Avenue, Drumcondra, appeared at Dublin District Court this morning.
A court order banning the media from identifying Mr Lyons as the accused in this case was lifted following an application by RTÉ.
Mr Lyons, whom the court has already heard is a 'businessman of impeccable character', was before Judge Denis McLoughlin on a charge of sexually assaulting a woman in Drumcondra in Dublin last October.
During the brief hearing, the prosecution told the court that the DPP had directed that Mr Lyons be tried on indictment, which means the case is to be tried before the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
Mr Lyons was represented by solicitor Michael Staines, who said his client was anxious, like the State, that matters proceed.
The court was also told that Mr Lyons will be served with the Book of Evidence in the case when he appears again at the Dublin District Court on 16 May.
