Police in Northern Ireland are investigating an armed robbery that took place on the grounds of the Royal Victoria Hospital in west Belfast early today.

Two men, armed with a handgun, approached the driver of a cash delivery van as he was bringing money to a cash machine at about 7.30 this morning.

They threatened the man, and escaped with what police have described as a large sum of money.

It is believed the men made off on foot in the direction of the Falls Road.
