A 19-year-old man has appeared before Swinford Disctrict Court in Co Mayo charged with the murder of his 46-year-old mother.
The body of Noreen Kelly-Eadon was found at her home in Islandeady in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Celyn Eadon has been remanded in custody to Castlerea Prison to appear before Harristown District Court on 18 March.
The solicitor for the accused asked that Mr Eadon receive psychiatric assessment as soon as possible.
A post mortem revealed that the mother-of-four died from multiple stab wounds.
