School secretaries vote for industrial action

School secretaries in the IMPACT trade union are to take industrial action over a 5% pay cut.

Those involved are not paid directly by the Department of Education, and say it is unfair of the Department to cut their pay while depriving them of public service benefits, such as pensions.

They say the cut could push those on the minimum wage out of the workforce altogether.

The Department of Education has not made any comment on the dispute.
