Former Anglo Irish Bank Chief Executive David Drumm's finances were in 'a chaotic state', at a time when he was running the bank and expanding its loan book, according to testimony given in Boston today.

The bankruptcy trustee, who has been questioning Mr Drumm, asked him repeatedly why he had 20-25 bank accounts and why he did not tally up what he owed and what he owned at the end of every month.

Mr Drumm replied that he could not explain why. He told the hearing that that was the way he ran his household affairs.

Mr Drumm has declared himself bankrupt and is being questioned by the independent trustee of the court.

Anglo Irish Bank says it is owed more than €11m by him.

Other debtors are also seeking their money.
