A man has appeared at the District Court in Limerick in connection with an incident in the city yesterday in which shots were fired by armed gardaí in pursuit of a stolen car.
32-year-old Noel Price of 9 Kileely Road, Limerick, was charged with hijacking a car on the Old Cratloe Road.
The court heard he made no reply when charged today.
There was no application for bail, but an application will be made next week.
Mr Price was remanded in custody to appear again at the District Court next Wednesday.
The vehicle was taken from outside a shop at Clonile on the Old Cratloe Road yesterday morning.
The man was arrested after he failed to stop following a pursuit by armed officers.
Two shots were fired by a member of the Regional Armed Support Unit. No one was injured.
