A 22-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a father who was shot dead in front of his partner and two children in August.

Keith Wilson, from Cremona Road in Ballyfermot in Dublin, was charged with the murder of Daniel Gaynor at St Helena's Road in Finglas on 14 August.

Mr Gaynor died from gunshot wounds to his chest and neck.

Detective Garda Alan Brady gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution at Blanchardstown District Court today.

Detective Brady told the court that Mr Wilson was arrested at 10.27pm last night.

He said Mr Wilson replied 'no comment' when he was charged at Finglas Garda Station with the murder of Mr Gaynor.

Mr Wilson remained silent during today's brief hearing.

He was granted legal aid after his defence solicitor told the court that he was on social welfare and not working.

As Mr Wilson is facing a murder charge, there was no application for bail.

He was remanded in custody to appear again at Cloverhill District Court this day week.
