Ireland's new Adoption Authority has been launched as part of the Adoption Act 2010.
The establishment of the authority is seen as a key element of a complete overhaul of the adoption process in Ireland.
The authority aims to set guidelines for the HSE and other bodies, as well as regulating and monitoring all adoption activities.
