An angling official has warned that fish stocks are at threat after an unknown number of mink were freed from a farm in Donegal.
Noel Carr, Secretary of the Sliabh Liag Anglers Association, has called on officials from the Department of Agriculture to get confirmation of the number of mink on the loose since they were released last Saturday.
The owners of Anderson's Mink farm, which had up to 33,000 mink on its premises near Ardara, have blamed ‘animal liberation terrorists’ after the animals were freed in what they claim was a deliberate attack.
Mr Carr said his association has caught around one hundred mink so far by setting traps in the area.
