A well-known horse breeder and a former Dungarvan town councillor are to face trial on corruption charges.
Michael Ryan, 58 and Fred Forsey Jnr, 41, are each facing six charges related to three alleged payments in 2006 concerning a planning application in Co Waterford.
Mr Ryan, who runs the Al Eile Stud at Kilgobnet, was in the District Court in Dungarvan today as was Fred Forsey Jnr, a former town councillor in Dungarvan.
Mr Ryan is alleged to have made three payments to Mr Forsey in 2006 - one for €60,000 and two other payments of €10,000 each.
It is alleged the payments were made to induce or reward in the making of representations to officials and/or members of Waterford County Council and Dungarvan Town Council to support a proposed development of lands at Ballygagin.
The lands were the subject of a planning application in the name of ORS partners.
The Book of Evidence was presented to the court and the case has now been sent forward to the next sitting of Waterford Circuit Court.
Both men were remanded on continuing bail.
