Man's body recovered off Valentia Island

The body of a 28-year-old man has been recovered from the sea close to Culloo Rock on Valentia Island in Co Kerry.

The body of a 28-year-old Polish man has been recovered from the sea close to Culloo Rock on Valentia Island in Co Kerry.

The man was one of a party-of-four who were taking photographs in the area yesterday evening.

The alarm was raised when he failed to return at nightfall.

His body was recovered by members of the Valentia-based Knightstown Coast Guard unit earlier this afternoon.

The search was co-ordinated by Valentia Coast Guard with assistance from members of the public.

The body will be removed to Kerry General Hospital for a post mortem examination.

Culloo Rock is a well-known fishing area on Valentia Island.
