The Shannon-based Coast Guard helicopter airlifted a crewman from a Spanish fishing vessel to hospital in Limerick last night.
The man from Ghana became ill while working on the boat when it was 145km off Loop Head in Co Clare.
The helicopter winched him from the vessel and brought him to Shannon.
The man was then transferred to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick, where his condition is described as stable.
