Figures from the Central Statistics Office confirm that production of grain fell in this country last year by 16.4%.
Output of the three main cereals - wheat, oats and barley - dropped to just under 2m tonnes.
The poor weather is largely blamed for the overall decline of the three crops by 390,000 tonnes.
The yield of potatoes was down 9.6% last year from 31.1 tonnes per hectare to 28.1 tonnes per hectare.
