A body has been found following a search of a field at Knockalisheen just outside Limerick city.
The area was sealed off this afternoon and a search carried out in a section of the field where gardaí believe the ground had been recently disturbed.
The body was found following a technical and forensic examination of the area.
The area will remain sealed off overnight and the State Pathologist's office has been informed.
It is expected that a pathologist will examine the scene tomorrow before the body is removed for a post mortem.
Gardaí have not yet confirmed the gender of the body.
