A man in his 20s was being questioned today in connection with an alleged assault in Cork city.
The incident, which left a Polish man in his 30s in a serious condition in hospital, occurred on Lower Oliver Plunkett Street at about 6.30pm yesterday evening.
The victim sustained what are understood to be serious head injuries.
Gardaí at Anglesea Street have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
