The Garda Ombudsman Commission is investigating a road crash involving a garda patrol car and in which a man was seriously injured.
The accident happened at around 9.30pm last night at the Pinnock Hill in Coolock in Dublin.
Three gardaí were in the patrol car responding to a call when it was in collision with another car.
The driver of that car was taken to Beaumont Hospital with head injuries and his condition is described as critical.
The three gardaí were also taken to hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries.
