One of two men, injured in a plane crash at the Powerscourt Estate in Co Wicklow this afternoon, has died.
The 66-year-old man died at the scene. A second man, aged 69, was taken to Tallaght Hospital, but has since been transferred to St James's Hospital.
The accident happened shortly after 3pm after the two-seater, single engine aircraft, thought to be owned by a member of the Slazenger family who own the estate, was landing on a private airstrip.
The landing was suddenly aborted and the plane's right wing hit a tree as the pilot tried to make an ascent.
The plane then overturned and crashed.
An inquiry by the Air Accident Investigation Unit is under way.
