Nine pipe bombs made safe in Dublin shed

Nine pipe bombs found in a shed at the back of a house in Swords, Co Dublin, have been made safe.

The house was raided by detectives from Swords this afternoon in the Bunberry Gate Estate in Applewood.

The area was sealed off and a number of houses were evacuated.

An Army Bomb Disposal Team arrived at 1.50pm and the scene was declared safe at 4.30pm.

No controlled explosion was carried out.

The devices and other suspect components were removed and handed over to gardaí for further examination.
