A man in his 70s has died followed a road crash on the M6 near Athlone in Co Westmeath.
The man was struck by a car as he was walking in the Monksland area at around 6am this morning.
Garda are investigating the circumstances of the crash and have asked any witnesses to contact Athlone Garda Station 090- 6498550, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any garda station.
