Tyrone man faces drug smuggling charges

A Co Tyrone man has appeared in court in England charged with drugs smuggling.

Nigel Donnelly, 42, from Cookstown, was remanded in custody and will appear again at Dover Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Mr Donnelly was arrested following an incident last Wednesday at Dover's Eastern Docks.

UK Border Agency officers searched a truck and trailer and uncovered approximately 350kg of cannabis, with an estimated street value of over £900,000 in a load of frozen chips.

The UK Border Agency is continuing to investigate.
