The trial is continuing at the Central Criminal Court of a 50-year-old man accused of the murder of Anne Corcoran in Cork last year.
Oliver Hayes, of Clancool Terrace, Bandon, Co Cork, admits manslaughter but denies murdering the 60-year-old widow between 19 January and 21 January 2009.
The court heard from witnesses who became concerned towards the end of January 2009 when Mrs Corcoran had not been seen for days.
Painting contractor Denis McCarthy said he alerted gardaí after it became clear that Mrs Corcoran's dogs had been left inside her house for a number of days.
A friend, Elizabeth Lucey, had also tried to reach her by phone. Her car had also been seen parked for a number of days in Bandon.
Gardaí told the court that blood stains found in the car matched the DNA of Mrs Corcoran.
They also examined CCTV footage of ATMs around Bandon and Inishannon where a man can be seen withdrawing money at the same times as withdrawals were made from Mrs Corcoran's account.
Mr Hayes has admitted falsely imprisoning Mrs Corcoran and stealing €3,000.
He told gardaí he only hit her to knock her unconscious after forcing her to reveal her PIN.
He denies a charge of murder.
Mrs Corcoran's body was burned before it was dumped in a wood near Ballinspittle, Co Cork.
