A 52-year-old man has been found guilty of 47 counts of sexually abusing his son.
The jury reached a unanimous verdict on 11 counts and a majority verdict on the remaining 36 counts.
Mr Justice Barry White told the seven men and five women that this had been a particularly distasteful case and there were aspects of it that had not been aired before them.
However, he said there seemed to be a history of serious sexual abuse within the family.
He said he was advising them of this so they could rest happy that the verdict they had returned was correct and appropriate.
One of the female jurors broke down as the judge spoke. The man's son broke down outside court.
The case will be mentioned again tomorrow when a date will be set for sentencing.
The man's son told the court during the trial that the abuse began when he was 12 or 13 and ended when he was taken into care around three years later. He said the abuse would happen three or four times a week.
The man had denied all the allegations. He told the jury he never sexually assaulted his son in any manner and never touched him other than giving him a hug or a kiss.
The jury took just under four-and-a-half hours to reach its verdict. It had begun its deliberations on Friday.
