Mater Private - Strike on 1 February

SIPTU members working in the Mater Private Hospital will go on strike on 1 February in protest at 4% to 5% pay cuts imposed on them since 1 January this year, according to union official Paul Bell.

The members represent 800 workers between clerical, nursing and radiotherapy in the Mater Private.

Workers in Bon Secours hospitals in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Tralee will follow suit on 8 February.

Workers in Mount Carmel hospitals are also expected to go on strike in February, but a date has not been set yet as they are waiting for word from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
