Nurses at four private hospitals have voted to take strike action in a row over pay.

The members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation and SIPTU voted overwhelmingly to take the action on 8 February.

The work stoppages will take place at hospitals within the Bon Secours group in Dublin, Galway, Tralee and Cork.

The unions say that pay cuts of between 4% and 5% imposed on their members, as well as a 5% reduction in allowances, are illegal.
