The Irish Red Cross has raised one €1m for victims of the flooding which caused widespread damage two months ago.
The charity announced an appeal for donations at the end of November and has described the response as overwhelming.
Applications for financial assistance from the Irish Red Cross Flood Relief Fund are now being accepted.
