A crewman from a Spanish trawler who was seriously injured in an accident 150 miles off the coast of Co Clare this evening is to be airlifted to hospital in Cork.
The 35-year-old Indonesian crewman sustained serious head injuries.
He was transferred from the trawler Mindos Octavo to the hospital ship Juan de la Cosa which is accompanying the Spanish fishing fleet.
The Shannon based coast guard helicopter is to rendezvous with the hospital ship about now and the crewman will then be flown to hospital in Cork.
