Worries over high tides

Cork City centre escaped flooding last night after high tide passed without incident.

However, the council has warned that the combination of spring tides, heavy rain, south-easterly winds and low pressure could still lead to flooding this weekend.

Meanwhile the ESB has said that water levels in Lough Derg have reduced overnight.

Reservoir levels remain high at Poulaphouca as do water levels on the River Liffey.

The ESB is continuing to discharge water from the reservoir subject to ongoing weather conditions.
