The swine flu vaccination programme has begun in primary and secondary schools.
The Health Service Executive programme is expected to take around two months to complete.
Up to 800,000 pupils around the country will be offered the vaccine.
In the first phase, vaccination will take place in larger schools with 400 or more pupils.
It is expected that pupils in smaller schools will be asked to attend HSE clinics.
