A Waterford man has been awarded over £3m for injuries he suffered in a road accident in Scotland.
The settlement was reached just before the man's claim for damages was due to open at Belfast High court.
26-year-old Owen Griffin was a member of Fermanagh-based boyband Idolize when the accident happened in March 2004.
He and his fellow band members had been travelling back to the North after a gig in Scotland when their car was involved in a head-on collision with a motorbike.
The man riding the bike and the five year old son of the car driver were both killed in the accident.
Mr Griffin, who was a seat-belted passenger in the back of the vehicle, suffered severe brain and physical injuries and was in a coma for weeks.
He currently resides in an assisted living scheme in Waterford known as Acquired Brain Injury Ireland. There is little evidence that his condition will improve or that he'll ever be able to return to work.
Liability in his personal injuries claim against the driver of the car, Malcolm Hayes, was not disputed.
Mr Griffin's lawyer said it reflected the severity of the injuries and for his client’s future needs for health care and support.
