Sean Dunne's revised development proposal for his Ballsbridge hotel site has been unanimously rejected by local councillors.

Mr Dunne's original plan for high rise development including a 37-storey tower was rejected by An Bord Pleanála.

He then applied to Dublin City Council for permission for 12 blocks of mainly residential development including two 15-storey towers.

However, this evening councillors from the South East Area Committee unanimously recommended refusal with most saying the apartment density is too high.

The Council will have to take the views of elected members into account when deciding whether to grant permission.
