Investigation as gunshots fired in Westmeath

Gardaí are investigating an incident at a house in Co Westmeath in which gunshots were heard.

Members of the force were called to the house in Cullion, Mullingar, yesterday evening and the scene was cordoned-off.

Gardaí say the situation was resolved peacefully at 6am this morning and a man in his 50s was arrested.

No one was injured in the incident and that there was no one else in the house at the time.
