An elderly woman has died following a road accident near Mullingar, Co Westmeath.
The two-vehicle collision happened shortly after 11am this morning at Dalystown on the main Mullingar to Tyrellspass road.
The woman's car was engulfed in flames following the crash.
A man was also taken to the Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar with what are described as serious injuries.
Traffic in the area is being diverted through Kilbeggan.
Elsewhere, a man is in a critical condition after a crash on the Malahide Road in the early hours of this morning.
The man was walking near Donnycarney Church when he was hit by a car just after 1.15am.
