A 17-year-old has been arrested in west Belfast on suspicion of endangering an aircraft by shining a laser at the pilot of a police helicopter.
The teenager was arrested in the Whiterock Road area as the helicopter carried out a routine flight.
A PSNI spokeswoman said any attempt to blind a pilot using a laser light could cause a catastrophe.
The youth who helped police with their investigation has since been released on bail, pending further inquiries.
